Rectory Homes Supports Thame Players Theatre

Rectory Homes are delighted to support Thame Players Theatre Company a vibrant and successful theatre group with over 150 members, founded over 70 years ago. Thame Players own and run the only dedicated theatre in Thame and offer a wide range of quality entertainment, from serious theatre to comedy and pantomime, including their own in-house productions as well as visiting acts and regular film screenings hosted by Thame Cinema for All.

Our association began in 2015, and has two strands, one relating to creative development, the other to capital improvements.

The creative funding enables Thame Players to enhance productions, achieving superior special effects with more sophisticated lighting, and also hire authentic costumes. In 2016, funding from Rectory Homes enabled Thame Players to stage a highly successful open-air production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, performed to sell-out audiences at The Elms in Thame, as well as deliver special effects for the Christmas pantomime, Peter Pan.

This year, Rectory’s creative funding will help to fund musical direction and choreography for Thame Players’ production of Honk!, the award-winning musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. On the infrastructure side, Rectory have made a major contribution to the purchase of state-of-the-art back screen projection equipment at the theatre.

Simon Vickers Rectory Homes’ Founder and Chairman said, ‘We’re delighted to be supporting Thame Players, a gem of an asset to the town. We take community support very seriously and look to put something back into the community wherever we can’.
